Our original Trustees were Erma MacArthur, June Meagley, Helen Kaufman, Dorothy S. Van Buren and Georgianna Peter. We were incorporated under the NYS Board of Regents and received our first charter in 1997.

Current Advances

The historic kitchen is again displayed, while the newer “kitchen” now functions as an office for the Society. Glen Kaufman built shelves for storage of some of our books and records.
We have a computer, thanks to the Robinson Broadhurst Foundation, Inc. and recently acquired a system, Past Perfect, which will allow us to record the items in our collection, keep track of “who gave us what,” record finances, and many other programs.

Major Projects

We need to work on two on-going projects. The first is an update of our “History of Hobart, 1888-1988. This provides a record of every building in the village, with a list of its builder and subsequent owners. This will involve working with records in Delhi.

HHS Meetings

HOBART HISTORICAL SOCIETY meets at 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month at their building on Cornell Avenue (the former Hobart Masonic Building). These meetings are open to the public. They will also hold a work session for those members available on the third Wednesday of the month, beginning at 1 p.m.

Visit the HHS Community Center
