I LOVE this site, thanks to Martha Mason for telling me about it. I will see if I can find some photos to add. Never knew how Hobart got its name. I am planning on a visit to Hobart this summer and will also visit the Society.
When we lived in Hobart in 1966 I met two cousins of my mother, Edith Maud Pearsall (neé Bennett) & Muriel Darcy (neé Bennett). Edith was born in 1906 & came to Australia in 1907 with her parents Arthur & Mary Ann Bennett. Around 1922 Arthur & his brother Edward set up the Bennett Chemical company on land that had previously been part of the Cascade Female Factory. I am hoping for help in finding information about that company & dates for Edith’s marriage, deaths of her parents & those of Edward & his wife & the birth of their daughter Muriel Lillian.
Any help would be much appreciated.

i am trying to research my grandfather who joined the army in hobart in 1915.
i believe he may have bought a farm in tasmania in n1915 but i have no idea how to find out .
do you know what hotels were in hobart in 1915 and if any still exist?
